Relationship Management
An important aspect of utilizing the offshore/onsite outsourcing
business model is to have a relationship manager as the liaison
between the client and the offshore contractor. As part of
the Offshore Development model, the relationship management
is the most integral and critical function for planning and
implementation of the offshore development activities. AIS
have offshore delivery capabilities through the established
business relationships with Software Development companies
in India. AIS has successfully provided and performed the
Relationship Management role between Canadian companies and
India based IT Consulting companies. Recently, AIS assisted
a major Canadian Asset Management company to engage a large
Indian IT Software Company for software development activities
for a major project by providing a senior manager from AIS
acting as the Relationship Manager for the Canadian company.
The main responsibility of the Relationship Manager is the
overall project management for both the Client company in
Canada and the IT Consulting Company in India are performed
as transparently as possible. Any offshore outsourcing project
will start with the Knowledge Acquisition Phase (KAP) for
the offshore company to gain knowledge on the Client Company's
business and technical requirements. A well experienced Relationship
Manager can be very useful at this stage to plan the KAP activities
for both the offshore company and the client company for effective
resource utilization on both side.
Following the KAP, the project life cycle phases are followed
based on the specific project requirements and the Relationship
Manager is responsible to plan and implement these phases
in coordination with the Program Managers from the client
company and the offshore development company.
